🍋 Zesty Lemon Pepper Wings 🍗

Who doesn’t love chicken wings? Nazis, that’s who. Well, my lemon pepper wing recipe is just what you need to make crispy wings right at home, and when you pair them with my cottage cheese ranch or blue cheese dip, you’ll never want to eat wings out again.

Chicken wings are traditionally deep-fried, but this recipe is designed to be made at home in an oven or an air fryer. Cooking the wings this way helps to reduce the amount of cooking oil left in the wings, and it’s easier and safer because you won’t have to deal with super hot scaldy oil.

One of the best parts about making wings at home is choosing what oil to use or, more importantly, not use. Avoid ultra-processed seed oils like corn, soy, and vegetable oils. These oils are harmful to your health and are commonly used at most restaurants due to their affordability and availability.

This recipe calls for olive oil but you can also use avocado oil if you want a more neutral oil. You could even use coconut oil for Asian-inspired wings. This lemon pepper recipe is simple and delicious, but you can use whatever seasonings you like. For example, you could use salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic.

Paring the type of oil and the seasonings you use will provide a plethora of flavor combinations you can explore. This recipe keeps it simple so you can master the technique, but once you have, you can experiment with all kinds of fun combinations, like coconut oil with garlic and ginger.

You can also sauce the wings after cooking them. In this case, you will only want to season them with some salt. After cooking, place the wings in a large bowl and toss them in your favorite buffalo sauce or whatever you like. I like the Paleo Valley brand.

When your wings are done, they should look golden brown. If your wings lack color or crispiness, place half of them back in the air fryer for a few minutes or on the top rack of your oven set to broil on high for a few minutes. Removing half of the wings will allow for less crowding and better browning.

Your wings can be stored in an air-tight container in the fridge for about a week. You could also freeze your cooked wings for up to three months. When you go to reheat them, defrost them in the microwave and finish them off under a broiler or in an air fryer to re-crisp them.

The wings can be served with carrot and or celery sticks if you wish.
