🧀🥓 Blue Cheese & Bacon Beast Burgers on Carnivore Buns 🍔🦁

This blue cheese and bacon beast burger recipe is a take on the American classic hamburger. It’s high in fat and protein, and I have included an additional recipe for my carnivore buns that pairs very nicely with these blue cheese and bacon burgers.

Hamburgers have been a long-standing tradition for family gatherings, barbeque cookouts, or any occasion. This delicious and portable dish gained widespread popularity in the U.S. in the early twentieth century, especially with the rise in fast food restaurants like White Castel in the 1920s.

You can use your hands to form the patties, a burger press, or a plate can be used to press down on the meatball to create a uniform patty. If you do this, place a piece of parchment paper on top and bottom to avoid the meat sticking. If your patties become deformed, you can always reshape them by hand.

When cooking meat, you usually take it out of the fridge an hour before you cook it to let it come up to room temperature, but this is not the case for hamburgers. As the temperature of the ground beef rises, the fat will become less solid, making working with it more difficult. So when you make your hamburgers, leave the ground beef in the fridge until just before you make the patties. I have also included a step in the instructions to refrigerate the patties before grilling them for this very reason.

You can make your patties in advance and have them ready in the fridge or vacuum seal them and freeze them for later use. The best part about freezing them is throwing the frozen burger patties directly on the grill. Remember you must cook them a bit longer if they are frozen.

When it comes to customizing your hamburger, you have many options. You can add eggs or pork panko to change the texture. Or you can substitute the bacon and blue cheese for onions and garlic. You can also substitute the cheddar cheese for any cheese you like. Parmesan or gruyere cheese would work well.

This recipe pairs well with the Homemade Ketchup found in my Low-Carb Meatloaf recipe.

This recipe was inspired by Jenny Mitich’s My Top Carnivore Ground Beef Recipes video on YouTube.

Blue Cheese and Bacon Beast Burgers

Difficulty Level:  3 Meatballs

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Cook Time: 10 Minutes

Servings: 2

  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • ½ pound of bacon
  • 2 ounces of blue cheese crumbles
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Cook the bacon until it is extra crispy, and let cool on some paper towels.

Cut a piece of parchment paper into 4 4-inch by 4-inch squares.

Place the ground beef in a large mixing bowl.

Crumble the bacon and add to the bowl along with the blue cheese and salt.

Mix the meat mixture by hand until all ingredients are well incorporated.

Measure out 4.5 ounces of the mixture and use your hands to form a ball by rolling the ground beef mixture between your hands.

Place the meatball onto one of the squares of parchment paper, place another piece on top of it, and use your hand to flatten it until it is approximately 1 inch thick.

Repeat this process with the remaining ground beef mixture.

Refrigerate the patties for at least 20 minutes before grilling to firm them up.

Grill the patties on a barbeque grill or in a skillet over high heat for 2-3 minutes on each side or until an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit (130 degrees favorite is acceptable for ground beef from local butchers)

Let your burgers cool for 5 minutes, serve, and enjoy!

Carnivore Buns

This carnivore bun recipe is high in calories and fat and has under one gram of carbohydrates. They are savory and hold up well, making them perfect for eating with hamburgers.

This recipe was adapted from a carnivore tortilla recipe, but I found them too thick to use as tortillas, so I modified the recipe to make them a fantastic substitute for sandwich bread.

This is a relatively straightforward recipe. Still, if you’re unfamiliar with pork panko, which is made from crushed pork rinds, I have included instructions on making this in my turkey nugget recipe.

Greasing the back of a spoon to spread/ shape your buns will help keep the batter from sticking to it. You could use butter, tallow, or your preferred fat to grease the spoon. Use the back of your greased spoon to spread the batter in the skillet in a circular motion, and pull the spoon away to the side rather than straight up to help avoid sticking. The butter in this recipe will keep them from sticking to the skillet’s surface.

The batter will be thick. You will need to use a spoon to pour it into the skillet.

These buns can be stored for up to one week in an air-tight container in your fridge.
