🥜 Stacked Peanut Butter Protein Shake: An All-in-One Protein Supplement 🫗

My stacked peanut butter protein shake is excellent as a post-workout meal to maximize your recovery or anytime you need extra protein. With only 315 calories, this shake packs a whopping fifty grams of protein and offers way more than just protein. It has electrolytes, collagen, fiber, and creatine. Plus, it tastes so good that you will want to drink it daily!
You could use water instead of coconut water. Still, I love the flavor that the coconut water adds in addition to the added electrolytes in the form of potassium and sodium. You can drink all the water you want, but if you do not have the proper electrolytes, your body will not take up the water into your cells where it is needed. Make sure to choose a brand of coconut water with no added sugar. Added sugar is not good for you because of the way it is refined. Conversely, the natural sugar in the coconut water will help fuel you throughout your day without spiking your insulin levels. I like to use the Kirkland brand Organic Coconut Water from Costco because it has no added sugars and is not made from concentrate.
If you want to bulk up or use this as a meal replacement, try using whole raw milk instead of coconut water. Milk is calorie-dense and provides tons of nutrients that support overall health and muscle growth.
Pro tip: Your shakes will taste much better if your liquid of choice is cold.
I use Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein Isolate Powder, and I like to use the Vanilla Ice Cream flavor because it tastes amazing. A Chocolate or even an unflavored whey protein isolate powder would also work well for this recipe. I know Gold Standard is not the highest quality whey protein isolate powder, but it is economical and widely available. If you want a cleaner nose-to-tail protein powder that includes colostrum, beef organs, and its whey-free, try Noble Origins all-in-one protein powder. I love the chocolate flavor because it tastes amazing (No hint of organ meats) and is easy to digest. If you use this, you can skip the cologne peptides because they are already in this protein powder.
Peanut butter powder adds flavor, additional protein, and slows down the absorption of the protein due to the fat and fiber it contains. These nutrients are digested slower than protein, and when you combine them, this leads to slower absorption. This is good for keeping you feeling fuller for a longer period of time and helps your body absorb more of that vital protein. Peanut butter powder has fewer calories and fat than traditional peanut butter, it’s portable, and you don’t need to use an electric blender to make your shake as you would with traditional peanut butter. I use the Original PB Fit Peanut Butter Powder, also found at Costco.
I have included collagen peptides in this recipe not only to increase the protein but also for its other health benefits to your skin, joints, bones, gut, hair, nails, and wound healing. I use the Vital Proteins brand of Collagen Peptides, and you guessed it, I buy this at Costco.
Fiber is an important part of a healthy diet because it will slow down absorption and keep you feeling fuller for longer. When you eat a high-protein diet, it can be hard to get enough fiber, and that’s why I included psyllium husk powder in this recipe. I use Viva Naturals Organic Psyllium Husk Powder, which I buy on Amazon. Make sure to drink your shake soon after you make it, or it will become too thick due to the psyllium husk powder.
I recently started adding creatine monohydrate to my shakes for all of the many health benefits it provides. Creatine is one of the most studied supplements out there. It has been shown to help build muscle mass, increase strength gains, help avoid fatigue, make your bones stronger, improve brain health, and can even assist in overcoming depression. Other positive benefits are it is an anti-inflammatory and decreases muscle recovery time. I’m using the Double Wood Supplements brand, an unflavored creatine monohydrate found on Amazon.
I use my Classic V2 Shaker Bottle when I make my protein shakes because it is portable, requires no electricity, and it’s easy. It’s a bottle that has a metal wire ball inside that helps mix the ingredients and has a spout to drink out of. I love it and highly recommend it not just to make protein shakes but to mix pre-workout drinks mixes or anything you want to mix to a smooth consistency. Read my full blog post about it HERE.
If you want to save time, you can mix up a few batches of dry ingredients in separate containers. Then, when you are ready for a shake, all you have to do is dump the pre-measured powder into your blender bottle, add the coconut water, shake to mix, and chug it down!
Protein shakes are a great tool for adding more protein to your diet or when you are short on time, but I would not recommend using protein shakes as a primary source of protein because the protein is highly processed, and your body will get so much more from whole unprocessed meats.
